The book, “Best Cat Godfrey” is the story of one crazy, unpredictable year on the “cat show circuit” across the United States. Written by Barbara Ley and Ron Dylewski, it recalls their adventures with their huge, lovable Maine Coon Cat named “My Man Godfrey.”
When Barb and Ron set out to show “Godfrey,” they really didn’t know what they were getting into. It seemed like such a simple thing; find a great cat (Godfrey was certainly that…) and then just go to cat shows and, well, win. Naive? Yea, perhaps just a little…
During that one year of Godfrey’s “campaign,” they spent over 40 weekends away from home. Using their hometown of Pittsburgh as base camp, they traveled west to Salt Lake City and Seattle, Washington, south to Boca Raton and Orlando, east to New Hampshire — and, it seemed, everywhere in between.
“Best Cat Godfrey” captures the pain, the joy and the sheer nuttiness that comes with “running a cat.”
